FANTASTIC WAY

Rising Price Bloodstock-sourced star, Fantastic Way made it two from two at Sha Tin on Sunday, handling a class rise and a wide draw with a maturity beyond his experience.

Fantastic Way had led from barrier one and comfortably beaten Class 4 horses at his debut but the John Size-trained three-year-old had more hurdles to jump this time.

He took on a better style of rival in Class 3 and drew near the outside but it made no difference.

The champion jockey, Joao Moreira parked him three wide with some cover and Fantastic Way saved himself for the straight, when he went clear for another comfortable win as soon as the Brazilian pressed the accelerator.

“It was pretty good because he’s just a three-year-old and they’re a little bit disadvantaged against the older horses,” Size said. “He had an awkward gate and he had to be ridden like a racehorse with plenty of experience, which he doesn’t have. He adapted to that pretty well, which you like to see, although it was a little unfamiliar to him and he didn’t know what to do approaching the turn. But the penny dropped in the straight and then he stretched out and went on with it. He’s learning as he’s winning and you couldn’t be happier with a young horse doing that.”
