HOUSE OF FUN

Price Bloodstock product House Of Fun let supporters down as the favourite at his second run this season but trainer John Size pulled the right rein dropping him back in distance to get the gelding back in the winner’s stall at Sha Tin on Saturday.

A warm favourite both runs over 1,400m this season, House Of Fun managed to just scrape in first-up but was overhauled last start after looking a bit keen during the run, but that wasn’t why Size brought him back to 1,200m on the weekend.

“He’s right at the top of Class Four and at the top of any grade, with the big weight, a horse can be a sitting duck for something with no weight to knock them off,” he said. “I’m not afraid to take him back to 1,400m later but I was just wary with the weight. We know he’ll be stronger at the end of 1,200m and he’s got the natural speed to be ok coming back in distance.”

Once again, House Of Fun was well-bet by the public but when Master Steed charged at him in the final stages this time, House Of Fun was strong and held the late finisher at bay by a half length.
“That will take him into Class Three with a big drop in weight next time so he’ll be better placed there and he was very game today,” said Size. “He’s very honest.”
