RIGHT CHOICE & TORNADO TWIST

12th January 2019

Double delight for Price Bloodstock at Sha Tin on Sunday as two highly-promising young gallopers took another step along the path to Hong Kong’s higher grades in impressive fashion.

John Size-trained three-year-old Tornado Twist topped off the day in the final race to take his record to two wins from three starts after Right Choice had won earlier to boast a similar record.

Right Choice had won his debut on the dirt before failing by just over a length to overhaul the leader next time out but trainer Frankie Lor fitted him with blinkers this time to make him a little sharper over the 1400m again and this time he arrived in time to storm over the leaders in the final stages under Silvestre de Sousa.

“He is a nice horse, the blinkers have sharpened him up a bit, I was in a bit of trouble getting out of the pocket but when he got his chance, he put his head down and put the rest to bed very easily,” the jockey said.

While Right Choice is winding into his races like he is looking for more ground, Joao Moreira’s task was made to look much easier on Tornado Twist, whose change of gears is more immediate, and he made short work of the Class 3 over 1,200m.

“He is very quick in a finish, he has good acceleration that is going to take him a long way in his career,” said Size after the three-year-old bolted in by a clear margin. “He is doing a good job and definitely has a future. At this stage, I don’t know much more he’ll do this season but he was at the bottom of Class 3 for this win so there’s a way to go yet before we get to Class 2 and have to reassess whether he needs some time or continues on.”
