TORNADO TWIST

2nd February 2019

Exciting young Price Bloodstock galloper Tornado Twist continued his rapid rise through the ranks at Sha Tin on Saturday with a third successive win despite another slow start and his victory even pointered the coming prospects of another Price Bloodstock horse who filled the quinella.

Tornado Twist has begun slowly in three of his four starts but that has not stopped him using his more potent talents to string wins together in Class 4 and Class 3.

“He’s got a very nice turn of foot that gets him out of trouble at the moment and he wins his races in the home straight but he’ll find the slow starts harder to get away with as he rises to the next grade,” said trainer John Size as Tornado Twist put himself on the verge of Class 2. “In Class 2, you can’t make too many mistakes and still win. There isn’t a lot you can do to make them jump faster, it’s something he’ll have to work his way through and hopefully he’ll get better with more experience.”

The win took Tornado Twist past $2 million in prizemoney, with the best all ahead of him.

“He runs on like he will run further but I’m happy to keep him at 1200m for now,” Size said.

Punters felt they were on solid ground with Tornado Twist, sending him out as an odds-on favourite, but the they felt the performance of Chris So-trained runner-up Better Choice was more disguised and he went around at better than 30-1 before running on well into second.

Better Choice has had a light career so far for a five-year-old, with only 8 starts and one Sha Tin win already on the board, but So looks to have him in good form again now.

“He has had a few problems but he was a close second in Class 4 last start, now he has run second behind a very good horse in the next class, so hopefully his turn is coming soon,” So said.
