BUNDLE OF ENERGY
13th September 2020
Price Bloodstock linked up with trainer David Hall and jockey Zac Purton for the second time in four days at Sha Tin on Sunday and lightning struck again with Bundle Of Energy breaking through for an overdue maiden victory.
The son of Reliable Man had won more than $1.2 million for his owner, regular Price Bloodstock client, Colin Lo, even before this race but had not managed to get his winning photo on the wall.
But that all changed when he got a strong tempo in the 1400m race and charged over the top of the leaders to win in a solid effort under 130 pounds.
“He was in hot form at the end of last season so he was an obvious one to get to the races early this season,” Hall said. “He has been tremendously consistent and that has been the frustration with him – he’s run 14 times in the first four from 24 starts and banked a lot of cheques without being able to get the win,” Hall said.
“So that’s a relief. It takes him out of Class 5 now too but I can’t see why he wouldn’t be a chance again with a light weight in Class 4 – quite a few of those minor placings have been in Class 4 so it isn’t beyond him. And he handles both Sha Tin and Happy Valley, so there will be opportunities.”
Hall has had Bundle Of Energy in races from 1200m to 2200m but his optimum range looks to be a fast-run 1400m up to 1800m.
“They really ran along in front today so his stamina came into play against a field of mostly sprinters and he got all the breaks but he did it well enough,” Purton said.
