BEAUTY APPLAUSE & FANTASTIC WAY

31st Jan 2021

Price Bloodstock wound up a successful January by providing the bookends to Sunday’s Sha Tin meeting with newcomer Fantastic Way and team stalwart Beauty Applause.

January saw Price Bloodstock with eight wins, including a Group One and Group Three, and both of Sunday’s winners look to have more ahead of them.

Beauty Applause posted back to back wins with his sixth victory from 19 starts and pushed his prizemoney within sight of $7.5 million after sitting outside the lead then running clear for a convincing fifth win at the Sha Tin 1200m course.

“He’s been a model of consistency his entire career, rarely misses a cheque and gives you everything he has, every time he goes to the races,” Size said. “He’ll likely have a rating in triple figures now so life doesn’t get any easier but he is so honest and has a good racing style, up on the pace, that you wouldn’t say he cannot win more races yet.”

Fantastic Way, though, is just starting his journey and looks a horse with a big future after comfortably winning his debut, though Size says he will be taking the immature youngster forward slowly while he is still growing.

“He looked a bit young in the parade ring – he’s still only three years old and for Hong Kong that’s a little bit young,” Size said. “So he’s still a bit immature but he’s educated pretty well and hasn’t been too much trouble to train. He’s won his first race here, which is always a good sign for any horse and the fact that he’s still immature and able to do that is probably good for the future anyway. I don’t know if Fantastic Way is tough enough yet to go to Class Three straight away but we’ll take our time, we’ll see how he comes through this run and see how he is at home. There’s no hurry – it’s all ahead of him at this stage.”
