SIGHT HERO

6th Oct 2021

David Hayes continued his great run with Price Bloodstock imports at Happy Valley on Wednesday night when the magic of blinkers brought the best from Sight Hero.

Sight Hero had already started 10 times without winning before the breakthrough but Hayes pointed out the gelding had not run a bad race in that time.

“It’s true, I had thought he would win earlier than from what he had shown us. But it wasn’t that he raced badly – he’d run four minor placings and earned prizemoney in seven of those runs so he was around the money but probably just lacking a killer punch at the finish,” Hayes explained. “So that made me think the blinkers might do the trick and maybe we found the key to him tonight.”

Given a nice trip by jockey Harry Bentley, Sight Hero savaged the line in the new head gear, just touching out another Price Bloodstock galloper, Xponential, taking the four-year-old’s stake money past $1.2million, with his best still ahead of him.

“Harry did a great job. He gave the horse a good beginning, a nice rest and he was strong at the end,” Hayes said. “The horse did a really good job and I think we’re just unlocking him now.”
